Colorado Parks and Wildlife NE Region officers responded to  a young bull elk that had tangled itself up with a tarp and gotten stuck in a ditch on Monday, April 4th. As the tarp was wrapped around the elk’s nose and mouth, officials noted that the elk was possibly inhaling water from the ditch, possibly drowning the animal. Fortunately, wildlife officers were able to successfully cut the animal free, reporting that he would, in fact, be totally fine.

CPW is the hero once again. Seeing animals in distress in never fun, but seeing Colorado Parks and Wildlife do their job and do their job well brings never fails to bring a smile to my face. Seriously though, if you’re ever feeling down, scroll through the different Colorado Parks and Wildlife twitter pages. There’s always something to boost your spirits in there. Great job to those wildlife officers!

But it all worked out and wildlife officers were able to cut him free. They noted that the elk would be just fine and were thankful of the resident who reported it so they could free it. #wildliferescue pic.twitter.com/RoSEksiv21
