Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and news from Gear Patrol Studios.

Accessories are getting... weirder. Just two days ago, Fendi released a baseball cap with a pair of sunglasses attached at the brim. The brand printed its logo across the lenses for added ‘anonymity’ and the piece made waves as the ultimate accessory for every master-of-disguise. Then, Balenciaga released a bag that doubles as a wireless speaker. Created in partnership with the audio experts at Bang & Olufsen, the bag includes a hidden compartment where one can stash their phone, wallet, keys – or anything else. To top it off, Balenciaga also unveiled the “Balenciaga Face Shield Engineered by Mercedes-AMG F1 Applied Science.” The face shield is made of ink-tinted, coated polyurethane that is molded to one’s face. It harnesses anti-fog technology to ensure it’s fully breathable and is equipped to stabilize CO2 intake. Talk about cutting-edge gear. Today we’re looking at a packable firepit, new trail running shoes and a collection of luxury whiskies. This is Today in Gear.

Packing out a firepit can often feel cumbersome – if not impossible – which is why Arnaud has released a truly portable, lightweight version. The team’s Firekorf allows users to build a fire on top of a wire mesh “firebag” that sits hoisted up atop four stainless steel legs. The piece’s collapsible design also ensures it can easily be rolled up into a small carrier bag that can be packed right into your backpack. The Firekorf itself currently retails for €119,00 (about $121 USD) but users can also add accessories like a grill top or roasting spit to round out their kit.

Merrell uses its Merrell Test Lab as a self-described “product incubator” for the brand’s “most technical and category disruptive innovations.” Now, the lab has released two new trail running shoes entitled the MTL Long Sky 2 and the MTL MQM. The team describes the MTL MQM as “the ultimate scrambling shoe,” as it was “built with abrasive durability to handle the demands of the toughest terrains.” Meanwhile, the lightweight MTL Long Sky 2 features a “first-of-its-kind multidimensional system that expels 30 percent more water” than the next best competitor. The MTL Long Sky 2 currently retails for $140, while the MTL MQM is priced at $150, with sizing across the MTL collection available for men and women.

Lululemon’s new hiking collection is set to disrupt the category. With a variety of men’s, women’s and unisex styles available; the collection offers everything from trending athleisure to more technical gear. One product that really stands out is this fast and free running belt, which retails at just $38 and is made from lightweight, sweat-wicking fabric. Its adjustable low-bounce waistband ensures a snug fit no matter the terrain, while a series of smart pockets allow you to keep your valuables close. Available in five colors and two sizes, this running belt is perfect for a casual run, hike or training session.

For those unfamiliar, Klättermusen is a brand committed to creating fun, versatile gear. Its new Off the Mountain collection offers a suite of wearables built for an easy, post-climb hang while its Iconic Equipment section presents a full lineup of adventure-ready gear. One of our favorite pieces from the collection is the Tivar Quick-Drying Hat. The hat is super packable, lightweight and offers ample sun protection. Plus, it’s made from cutting-edge quick-drying fabric that will wick away sweat and offers reflective details for added safety. The hat currently retails for $70 and is available in red or black.

The Macallan has unveiled The Macallan M Collection, a new series built in collaboration with the creative director, Fabien Baron, and French crystal maker Lalique. The series will include six whiskies in total as an homage to the brand’s Six Pillars. So far, only three bottles from the series have been released – and they all retail for over $6,500. The Macallan M 2022 Release embodies the brand’s “Natural Color” pillar and comes with an MSRP of $6,750. Similarly, the Macallan M Black 2022 Release represents the brand’s “Mastery” pillar and totes an MSRP of $7,750. Finally, the Macallan M Copper 2022 Release is an ode to the “Curiously Small Spirit Stills” pillar and hosts an MSRP of $8,500. Fans can try their luck finding these and the last three spirits in the series in select markets like The Macallan Estate, The Macallan Airport Boutiques, and select luxury retailers.
