Tenda is not as widely known in the home network equipment segment, although it has been on the market for a long time. Our test lab received an inexpensive but fast Tenda Nova MW12 mesh system.Let's see how it will show itself in practice. In 2012, Tenda partnered with Broadcom in the Chinese market.Since then, the company has been using Broadcom chipsets to ensure product compatibility and high performance. In addition to mesh systems, Tenda produces routers, switches and other network equipment. In addition, two more Gigabit Ethernet ports are available on the station, as the third is used for the WAN.Mesh nodes connect wirelessly, so they have all three Gigabit LAN ports available. The WLAN 802.11ac standard is supported, but clients can also connect using older standards. In the case of a 2.4 GHz network, the speed is 300 Mbps, in the 5 GHz band - already 867 Mbps.Of course, faster devices have been in our test lab, at least in theory.Supports WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK encryption.Inside each station runs a 900MHz SoC, complemented by 256MB of DDR3 RAM.Processor performance is enough to serve up to 100 devices on the network simultaneously. In addition, computing performance is required for MU-MIMO, QoS, and Beamforming+.The kit includes three Mesh12 stations, a power supply for each, an Ethernet cable, a quick start guide.Mesh12 stations are cubes with dimensions of 100 x 100 x 100 mm.As you can see, they are quite compact, they are easy to put on a shelf or in any other place.Design Nova MW12 can be called simple and modest, the body has a white color.Outside, they are decorated only with a dark gray Nova lettering. On the bottom panel of any Tenda Nova MW12 station, you can see the power connector on the right.Nearby are three Gigabit Ethernet ports, the right of which can function as a WAN port.Ethernet ports can be used to connect wired devices to a mesh network.Mesh networks usually promise easy installation and configuration that even an inexperienced user can handle. But in practice, problems still arise, and for various reasons.Tenda also promises easy installation, which should be facilitated by the application for Googles Android and Apples iOS.The first step is to set up the main mesh station and connect the WAN cable and power to it.Once the LED turns green, the user can connect to the default Wi-Fi network. The corresponding data is printed on the bottom of each mesh station. The Wizard will then guide the user step by step through all the steps. The user needs to set the WLAN network name and password to connect. Then you can start connecting the rest of the mesh stations. To do this, they must first be turned on in the immediate vicinity of the main device. It is enough to turn on the power, after which each station will automatically connect to the new WLAN network, the indicator will turn green, the station will appear in the application. Then the mesh stations can be placed around the apartment or house in the right places.A green indicator indicates a good connection speed.Yellow - poor connection quality, in this case the mesh station should be moved closer.Red indicates no connection.Of course, there are other features, such as port forwarding, WPS connection wizard, the ability to connect a dynamic DNS server, but Tenda Nova MW12 still does not provide advanced network settings, unlike most routers. However, most users do not need them.Setup should be as simple as possible, and extra features only complicate it.And in ordinary home networks, users are unlikely to delve into the settings.Turned on, configured, work - this is the principle that the majority will follow. And from this point of view, Tenda Nova MW12 performs well.Synology has launched the new 12-bay (2U) RackStation RS2421+ and RS2421RP+ NAS, as well as the 16-bay (3U) RS2821RP+, which the company says is designed to achieve...
