The Inofia tri folding mattress is the best guest mattress I have tried out. It's not amazing, it's just better than the alternatives.

My previous mattress reviews have been for king-sized memory foam mattresses as part of my never-ending quest to improve my sleep which would also improve my health and fitness.

The Inofia is a guest mattress that works as an alternative to a blow-up mattress or one of those ugly old fashioned folding beds. I had considered buying a sofa bed, but they seem to be notoriously uncomfortable, and it is a faff having to make the bed for a guest.

The Inofia mattress is like any other memory foam mattress. It arrives vacuum packed, inside a cardboard box which makes the logistics of selling mattresses online much easier.

The package doesn't weigh too much; Amazon list the mattress as weighing ‎7.76 kg. Once you remove it from the box you will want to use the included package opening to slice open the plastic and infold the mattress.

Over the next few minutes, the mattress will start to expand into its full size. The model I bought is only 15cm thick, so the expansion is less impressive than your normal memory foam mattresses, which are normally 25cm+. During the unboxing, I didn't small any off-gassing, which is common with this type of mattress.

Initial impressions were not great. The Amazon photos show a nice, perfectly formed mattress when folded out, whereas, in reality, it appeared like three memory foam sections loosely joined together with a mattress cover.

As the mattress expanded, it did fill out the mattress cover, and it does fold out to be quite a flat, comfortable mattress.

Due to the way it folds, one of the mattress sections has quite a large gap in it, with the cloth joining the middle section on the ground level. On the other end of the mattress, the cloth runs flat across the top. This looked like it would be irritating with the potential for the mattress segments to pull apart when asleep. However, it is not too bad, I kept the section with the gap for my lower half while my upper body was on the smoother section.

Using a tightly fitted bottom sheet should help avoid the lower section separating, but I didn't notice even with a looser fitted sheet.

The end result was a relatively comfortable nights sleep. It's much better than any blow-up mattress I have used, but it is a long way off the comfort of a proper bed.

I bought the 15cm small double, so it takes up quite a bit of space, but much less than the mattress I used to keep pushing up against my wall. You could maybe squeeze it into a large cupboard, but in reality, you are going to have to find a room that you don't mind keeping it in.

The 15cm small double I bought has an RRP of £219.99. I bought it for £169.06, which is also its price at the time of writing.

A single 10CM thick mattress is currently £109.56.

Milliard does a variety of tri-fold mattresses which I suspect will be identical to this. They have a 10 cm single for £109.99 and a 15cm double (135cm wide) for £174.99.

Milliard also do a folding mattress that turns into a seat/couch when folded up. This is £117.99 for a single and £164.99 for a double.

The cheapest option I can find is from Bobby's Bedware, which is a single and turns in a seat for £62.99.

The Inofia mattress isn't quite the ideal solution I had hoped for, but it is still the best option I have found. At the end of the day, temporary/guest beds are never going to be incredibly comfortable.

Storage is an issue, but it takes up much less space than a day bed or folding bed. I should be able to squeeze this into my box room.

I think this could also work well in a campervan or other alternative living arrangements. When folded up it would make a good makeshift sofa.
