CHERY Auto Philippines just unveiled the all-new Tiggo 8 Pro at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show. This mid-size electrified crossover SUV is the boldest, most powerful vehicle that the Chinese automaker is bringing to the Philippines.

The main headline here is its plug-in hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine that produces 155 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The two electric motors produce 34 hp and 80 Nm at the front, while those at the rear produce 54 hp and 70 Nm. These are mated to a so-called "unique hybrid transmission gearbox," and when the batteries are topped up (which happens in as little as three hours), the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro can travel without consuming a drop of fuel for up to 95 km.

There's also a version with a non-electrified powertrain on offer, and this uses a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 183 hp and 275 Nm of torque. This drives the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is by far the Chinese automaker's most premium SUV yet. Its front fascia is dominated by an octagonal grille with a studded mesh pattern. There are also splashes of chrome trim in various places around the vehicle for a more premium look. At the back, there's a set of distinct LED tail lights, integrated exhausts and a well-proportioned rear end.

Like the latest Chinese-made cars, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro boasts of a well-designed interior.

Likewise, the interior is also one of Chery's most premium yet in an SUV. In line with the car's premium exterior, the interior also consists of a generous amount of soft-touch surfaces and premium materials. The leather seats feature diamond quilting plus there are also a host of luxurious amenities such as a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, 12.3-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, power-adjustable front seats, touch panel climate control, powered tailgate, just to name a few.

The Tiggo 8 Pro is also the first vehicle in its local lineup to feature a host of advanced driver-assistance tech, ranging from automatic emergency braking, radar-guided adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and blind spot warning.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 Pro retails for P1.645 million and P2.4 million for the plug-in hybrid variant.
